Over the last week I have been lucky enough to have had a chance to play with a pre-release copy of Skylums Luminar 4.3
The nice team over at Skylum sent me out a preview copy of the new Luminar 4.3 update so I could have a good play with it before it was released and there are some nice changes in it.
So if you are using Luminar 4.2 then read on to find out how to upgrade and what the advantages of the free upgrade are...

Before we get started here's how to update to Luminar 4.3 if you are using Luminar 4 already.
On a Mac, click in the Top Menu Bar and choose Luminar 4 > Check for updates. If you purchased via the Mac App Store, simply open the App Store and go to the Updates tab.
On Windows, in the Top Menu Bar choose Help > Check for updates.
If you are running Luminar as a plugin with Photoshop, Lightroom Classic or Photoshop Elements, it’s also recommended you rerun the plugin installer.
If you aren't already using Luminar 4 then why not click here to download a trial version and try it out? You get two weeks to play around with it and it's a free trial.
I can also offer you discount code HAYES10 to give you an extra $10 or €10 off the price.
Please be careful as when purchasing Luminar 4 you will see a screen pop up saying applying discount, this is not applying the extra discount code I can offer you. See the step by step guide here on how to enter the code correctly.
As I said above there is a trick to getting this extra discount so please Click here to find out how to claim it. They frequently have offers on their software and when you click buy now you see a screen splash up saying applying discount, well that is the first discount but my discount code will get you another offer on top of it.

So what really are the great new features in Luminar 4.3?
I have them listed in importance below...
Camera support
Well new camera models being supported is a huge plus for a lot of photographers. After all if you just went out to buy a shiny new all bells and whistles camera and you cant use your editing software then that's a bit of an issue
The following camera models are also now supported.
Canon EOS-1D X Mark III (uncompressed only), FUJIFILM X100V, FUJIFILM X-T200, FUJIFILM X-T4, Leica SL2, Nikon Coolpix P950, Nikon D780, Nikon Z50, Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark III, Olympus E-PL10, Panasonic DC-S1H, and the Sony A9 Mark II.
So if you own one of those cameras its great news.

Stability and performance improvements
The next huge plus is stability and performance improvements, Luminar 4.2 was a bit slow when you were adjusting sliders etc... the new 4.3 version is a lot better though and a good step forward especially if you are using an old computer for your editing.
A few people had issues with stability and the software occasionally crashing, this has now been fixed and it's a lot more robust.
My Luminar 4.2 had crashed a few times while I was using it but I would consider myself an extreme user as I tend to edit very quickly and move onto the next shot.
So with the luminar 4.3 update the sliders are now quicker and more responsive than before as they use less of your pc's memory and the 4.3 update is has also improved the stability of the sopftware. Those two update in 4.3 make it a very welcome update for a lot of people.
Crop and rotate
The Crop & Rotate tool has seen a big update with Luminar 4.3, being moved to the right panel underneath Lens & Geometry. Photographers can open the tool and crop with ease and quicker than ever before. Windows users should also see a significant performance boost, letting photographers seamlessly crop their images.

The last two feature updates in have personally been on my wishlist and I am delighted to see Skylum listening to their customers.
AI Augmented Sky improvements
The AI Augmented Sky experience has also gotten some improvements. It's so easy now to flip objects and quickly position them in your shot, saving you time and effort. A new marketplace section on the Luminar website has also been added, featuring objects for use with AI Augmented Sky.
The AI Augmented Sky feature enables photographers to create composites that they never thought were possible before without huge effort. A new space shuttle object has also been added.

Ok, the space shuttle may not be a huge bonus but the option to purchase other objects for adding to your images certainly will help a few peope out.
Custom Skies and sky objects.
In
the AI Sky Replacement and AI Augmented Sky tools, photographers can
now comfortably access a custom folder of locally stored skies and
sky objects. It’s also now easy to copy and paste multiple skies in
the sky folder in just a few clicks, for convenient editing.
Masking tool
The masking tool is now extremely easy to use, as masked areas are visible mid-process thanks to a transparent red mask. Enjoy viewing the instant effect of the tool for pleasant and fast editing. So basically we can see exactly what is being masked and it just saves time.

Photo search Facility.
This could be very handy for a few people and I know I will certainly use it from time to time.
The photo search facility means you can now search for images by name, date, folder or extension.
To help you find what your looking for faster.
500px integration
You can now share your photographs on 500px easily with other photographers around the world.
